jisei karate-do
jisei karate-do is a form of karate-do which is aimed at self-teaching. At a time when sport trends dominated karate, Tokitsu Kenji, with the intention of redefining the meaning of budo in karate, created a school in Paris in 1996.
Technically speaking, jisei karate-do is based on the ancient Okinawa karate and Chinese martial arts, this being the original form; moreover, it integrates the principles and body techniques of the Japanese sword. It is an efficient and realistic bare-handed combat.
The aim of the practice is to give primary importance to the ritsu-zen exercise and other energy exercises. Their first aim is to regulate and increase the ki, then a strengthening of the legs and tanden, to then reach a harmony through an adaptation to energy principles. This training method should enable the ki-seme principle to be put into practise in karate combat.
The face is the easiest spot to attack and the most difficult to protect in a bare-handed combat. But because in karate, one stops short in the strike, there is a tendancy of false combat. Inspired by kendo, jisei karate-do uses armour for the face and fists in its combat exercises of which the principle is to attack and protect all parts of the body.
