Tokitsu-Ryu is an international academy where the martial arts return to their original purpose, i.e. providing a method of self-improvement, a physical practice that implies internal reflexes, a tool that makes the pursuit of well-being an opportunity for spiritual development.
“The martial arts are a self-improvement method, whose aim is to make all human beings autonomous and able to take responsibility for their own life. The student is never educated but learns, guided by a teacher, to educate himself.” K. Tokitsu |
A synthesis of various Chinese and Japanese schools, Tokitsu-Ryu is a method based on the association of breathing, energy and action. Developed through more than 30 years of study and research by Master Kenji Tokitsu, the method adopts the deeply-rooted oriental concept according to which body and soul form an indissoluble whole.
Tokitsu-Ryu is also a style of unarmed combat, whose main goal is efficiency: immediate efficiency, expressed in technical skill, and long-term efficiency, which means preserving and improving one's health and well-being over the years, but especially a new way of perceiving the body and the soul.
